I went to see these guys in the early 80`s there was next to nobody there the band was obviously in a bad mood just playing whatever and no show at all did`nt care a bit quit early after about an hour show did`nt say thanks just walked off, Pretty sure it was their last show for many years.
tickets were free I would say about 200 people in a theater that held 7,000.

Yeah, that makes sense. They'd been playing together since the 60s and between the two brothers, you can expect that eventually, someone's going to want to break free from the other. Which sounds like is what happened and it's sad for the music, but I just saw Ray Davies perform by himself in Town Hall in NYC and it was a packed house and a good time. Great energy considering his age. I also saw him play last year by himself at Hammerstein Ballroom - also a great show.

Couldn't have been the early 80's. They were selling out venues like Madison Square Garden at the time, and were rotinely pumping out Gold Albums. Must have been the early 90's when the Phobia album came out.
